ONI ASPHALT DENIM

This new fabric is hands down the wildest and most textured denim ONI has ever made and that says a lot coming from the masters of slub! 
This dark indigo denim has an insanely rugged and sharp texture and is woven with the lowest possible tension using a thick yarn specially made for this fabric. This thick yarn is made of blended coarse cotton and when this yarn is loosely woven on an old shuttle loom there will be a lot of friction leading to lot of very visible thread balls on the surface which are better known as neps. A lot of work goes into creating such pronounced and strong neps and the Asphalt denim takes it to the next level. 

Of course at 20oz this fabric also boasts a lot of slub and thanks to the incredible unevenness of the fabric the different hues of warp of weft create a vibrant denim like no other. 

A lot of people have asked ONI to create a rough denim and the Asphalt denim is rougher on the surface than anything else while still being very comfortable to wear. 

That brings us to the name when ONI saw the first sample of the fabric it literally looked like the rough Asphalt of the rural roads of Japan. It is yet another masterpiece from the legendary denim maker.
