The original 'NORAGI KASURI SASHIKO' expressed by Jacquard weaving. This jacket is made of our original 'NORAGI KASURI SASHIKO' fabric. Special dyes produced in Niigata called 'speck yarn' are used here and there. This speck yarn creates groups in the fibers and the color of the fibers is then applied to the fabric as if it were dyed in grazing dye. This speck yarn is characterized by its ability to create groups in the fibers and to produce a mottled color on the fibers as if they were dyed with graffiti. The yarn is made by hand so it is not precise and it cannot be produced without the skill of a craftsman. The color gradation is unique and cannot be produced without the skill of a craftsman. The stitching threads that run vertically and horizontally are made in different directions and types in order to express the warmth of hand-stitching. The direction and type of stitching threads are changed in places to express the warmth of hand-stitching and the fabric surface is contracted to create complex irregularities. The jacket comes with a padded lining to provide excellent protection against the cold.

NORAGI KASURI SASHIKO

In the days when Japanese people still wore kimonos for everyday wear cotton clothing was a very precious commodity. It was an important object to keep out the cold and to keep out the heat and it was indispensable for survival. The combination of patterns and the warmth of the hand-stitched fabrics are unparalleled in beauty. This time Studio D'Artisan has expressed 'Noragi Kasuri Sashiko' in Jacquard weave. In some places we have used a special dye produced in Niigata called 'speck yarn'. This speck yarn is characterized by the formation of groups in the fibers and the color is applied unevenly to the fibers as if they were dyed with kasuri dye. Because these yarns are made by human hands they are not precise and cannot be produced without the skill of a craftsman. The color gradation is unique and cannot be produced without the skill of a craftsman. The stitching threads that run vertically and horizontally are hand-stitched in different directions and types to express warmth. The direction and type of stitching threads are changed to express the warmth of hand-stitching and when the fabric is washed it shrinks to create complex unevenness on the surface of the fabric. The 'wild clothes' one of the Japanese workwear of the time are now being made with the It is a unique 'NORAG' that expresses the skill wisdom and pride of modern craftsmen.
