"Kakishibu" dyeing is a traditional dyeing technique that has been handed down since the Heian period, over 900 years ago. It is said to have originated in the Heian period (794-1185) when samurai and mountain priests wore reddish brown clothes dyed with Kakishibu. The cloth dyed with Kakishibu, which is also used as a Chinese herbal medicine because of its high sterilizing and deodorizing properties, is said to have been first used in the Heian period (794-1185).The cloth dyed with Kakishibu is also called "sun-dyeing" because the color changes and becomes deeper when exposed to sunlight and air. This is why it is called sun-dyeing.

Studio D'Artisan has created a new original fabric using yarn dyed with this Kakishibu dyeing technique, combined with indigo yarn. In order to create a rough texture, the warp and weft yarns are both #6.7. In order to give the fabric a rough texture, we used a thick super-uneven yarn, #6.7 in both warp and weft, which gives a more uneven weave than usual. In addition, nep yarns (yarns with knots left over from spinning) dyed with indigo are randomly woven into the weft to create a coarse look. By weaving in indigo dyed nep yarn (yarn with knots left over from the spinning process), we were able to create a coarse atmosphere.

The hickory stripes are based on the motif of random hickory, also known as "father and son hickory. The hickory, which is a standard pattern of work style, is combined with the Japanese color of "Kakishibu dyeing" to create an unprecedented color. The hickory pattern, a work style staple, is combined with the Japanese color of "Kakishibu Dyeing" to create the "KAKISHIBU DENIM HICKORY Jeans" with an unprecedented color.
