The "Tsuri-Ami" in Wakayama, which attracts attention from around the world, is a traditional knitting machine that weaves fabric in a cylindrical shape called a "Tsuri-Ami machine," which operates only in Wakayama Prefecture in the world. Until the 1960s, cut-and-sew products made by this Tsuri-Ami machine were globally mainstream, but the production efficiency of "about 1 meter per hour" was pushed by the wave of the era of "mass production" and "mass consumption," gradually becoming considered outdated technology. However, as can be seen from the fact that T-shirts and sweatshirts made with the Tsuri-Ami machine still maintain their high quality as vintage items to this day, the cut-and-sew products knitted with the hanging knitting machine have a unique texture and overwhelming toughness that cannot be achieved with the latest high-speed sinker machines. In recent years, their value has been reevaluated, and "hanging knitting/TSURI-AMI" is recognized as the highest quality fabric in the world, just like selvage denim.
