YEN
The "YEN" model, first released in 1994 as part of the Closed collection, has been cherished for its minimalist silhouette for decades. The elastic band inside allows for both easy slip-on and a snug fit. The fabric used for the YEN features a geometric pattern inspired by a twill lattice design. Similar to the DERBY, the fabric is washed once to accentuate the texture.
The open lacing, heel, and piping sections are made from chrome-tanned calf leather, known for its durability, softness, and resistance to discoloration, though not recommended for those with chrome allergies. The trippen sole is also used here, providing support for the spine and back.
graphzero -20th Anniversary Special Project-
In 2024, graphzero celebrates its 20th anniversary. To mark this milestone, they have teamed up with the German shoe manufacturer "trippen" for a special collaboration.
The result is a unique pair of shoes that combines graphzero’s signature fabric design with trippen’s wooden shoe molds.
Trippen was founded in a small Berlin gallery in 1991 by two individuals: Michael Ehler, a master shoemaker who also crafted orthopedic shoes, and Angela Spieth, a designer of shoes and clothing. The name "trippen" comes from a German word meaning "toddle" or "waddle," inspired by how noblewomen used to wear wooden clogs over their shoes to avoid getting them dirty on rainy days. The first collection they introduced was a line of wooden sandals that couldn't actually be worn, paying homage to those historic clogs. The brand is known for its focus on ergonomic comfort, which is where the name "trippen" comes from—the idea of a wobbly gait.
